Every July, San Diego Comic-Con turns downtown into one of the hardest places in the country to book a room or find a parking spot. Over 130,000 badge holders fill the Convention Center and Gaslamp Quarter, and hotel reservations run via a lottery that closes months in advance. From Frank Miller to Hall H: The 2026 Guest List

The Comic Con San Diego guests list centers on comic creators, writers, and artists. Studio talent shows up independently for Hall H presentations. The organization reserves its official Special Guest slots for influential voices across comics and pop culture.

The 2026 lineup includes Frank Miller (Sin City, The Dark Knight Returns), Jim Lee (Batman), and Mark Waid (Superman, Daredevil). Kelly Sue DeConnick (Bitch Planet), Huda Fahmy (Yes, I’m Hot in This), and Deniz Camp (Ultimates) represent a newer generation. The full speaker directory lists over 30 confirmed creators in total.

Avengers: Doomsday and the DC slate under James Gunn are widely expected in Hall H. The full panel lineup typically lands two weeks prior to opening day.

Each Special Guest receives a dedicated Spotlight panel during the weekend. These sessions run 60 to 90 minutes and give attendees direct access to the creator’s process and career.

600 Panels, Dozens of Offsites, and Zero Downtime

Over 600 panels run inside the Convention Center across four days. But some of the most talked-about Comic Con San Diego events happen outside the main hall.

Confirmed offsites include the Marvel Games Lounge for hands-on demos and developer meetups. Lumpia Con 5 at 423 F Street brings three nights of artist gatherings and community mixers. The Donut Bar Pop-Up at Pendry San Diego features character-themed creations for the weekend. HBO’s IT: Welcome to Derry sends Pennywise-themed pedicabs across downtown on Friday and Saturday. Mighty Mic Drop 2026 combines karaoke, giveaways, and cocktails in the Gaslamp.

After dark, venues like Prohibition Lounge, The Tipsy Crow, and House of Blues all program SDCC-week shows. No badge is required for most offsite activations.

Why Downtown Rooms Sell Out in Minutes

Securing a Comic Con San Diego hotel runs through OnPeak, SDCC’s official housing partner. The 2026 edition uses a live-sale format with real-time bookings. Each reservation requires a two-night consecutive minimum and a non-refundable deposit equal to two nights plus tax. A 3.5% service fee applies on top. OnPeak is the official channel with discounted group rates, but rooms can also be booked directly with hotels or via third-party platforms.

Hotels are split into three zones by distance from the Convention Center:

• Marina District (walkable): Marriott Marquis, Manchester Grand Hyatt, Hilton Bayfront, Hard Rock Hotel. Most competitive, first to sell out in the lottery.
• Gaslamp Quarter (5 to 15 minutes on foot): Several mid-range and boutique properties sit in this zone. Walking time depends on the specific cross street and crowd conditions.
• Mission Valley (~6 miles out): Town and Country is the primary shuttle hotel. Free shuttles run to the Convention Center every 15 minutes during peak hours. Rooms cost significantly less than downtown options.

San Diego blocks are shorter than average, roughly two to three minutes each. A property listed as eight blocks away is closer than it sounds. If the OnPeak lottery did not land a downtown room, Mission Valley with the shuttle is the strongest fallback.

Attendees flying into LAX add a drive south to San Diego on top of the room logistics. A terminal-by-terminal breakdown of LAX can help with gate logistics for those connecting there. San Diego International is closer but has fewer nonstop routes on most carriers.

The ACE Parking Lottery and What It Actually Gets You

Comic Con San Diego parking is managed by ACE Parking. The 2026 lottery closed on May 31, with the drawing on June 1. Remaining permits opened to the public afterward. Anyone who missed the lottery can still purchase unsold spots online or show up for drive-up parking on the day.

Available lots include Convention Center, Hilton Bayfront garage, Padres Parkade, Diamond View Towers, Tailgate Park, Triangle, and MTS. All operate from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. and are within walking distance.

Key rules to know:

• No in-and-out privileges. Leaving the lot means losing the space to a drive-up customer.
• Vehicles over 18 feet are turned away, even with a valid permit.
• ADA spaces are first-come, first-served. Convention Center and Hilton Bayfront are the closest ADA-accessible lots.
• Refunds carry a $10 fee and must be requested at least 10 days prior to the show.
• Drive-up spots are available on open days, but most lots fill by 8:00 a.m. from Thursday through Saturday.

For those not driving, the San Diego Trolley drops directly at the Convention Center gates. MTS adds extra service during SDCC week.

Getting Ready for July

SDCC 2026 runs July 22 through 26. The full panel lineup, autograph signings, and offsite calendar are still being updated.
